The goal is not to make a customization project more complicated. It is to identify the changes that affect how the product must be designed or manufactured.
Usually a platform adaptation
Logo placement, artwork, a short name, a selected color or custom printed packaging may be reviewed as private-label capabilities where the current product platform supports them.
Usually an engineering question
New dimensions, a different physical structure, acrylic geometry, lighting program, electronics, power arrangement, material combination or new product function should be reviewed by the project team before a production route is proposed.
What to send to make the review useful
- Reference image or sketch showing the intended difference
- Target dimensions, use case and market
- Known functional or lighting requirement
- Expected quantity and commercial timing
Let the route follow the product
A new shape does not automatically mean a new product is feasible at every quantity, and a current platform should not be stretched into a design it cannot support. The review identifies whether the request fits a current model, needs an OEM build-to-print assessment or should enter Full ODM development.
