Artwork and packaging are part of the product program, not an afterthought. The most useful files explain both the brand appearance and the physical context in which it will be used.
For product branding
Share the logo in an editable vector format when available, along with brand color references, intended text, visual hierarchy and the product surface or position you want to use. If you only have a JPG, a screenshot or a photo reference, send it for an initial feasibility review and prepare final production artwork after the route is confirmed.
For packaging
Describe the purpose of the pack: retail shelf, e-commerce shipment, event hand-out, gift presentation or an internal distribution kit. Supply dielines, artwork, copy, labels, required languages and packing preferences when they are known. Product dimensions and included accessories should be confirmed before the final packaging construction is approved.
Helpful file formats
- AI, PDF or editable design source for logos and print artwork
- PSD or high-resolution image references for visual direction
- CAD or dimensioned PDF for physical product or package requirements
- Reference photos for finish, color, texture or arrangement
Prevent avoidable rework
Keep one approved version of each file, name the revision clearly and note which side, position and language applies. When a product, accessory or packaging format changes, revisit the artwork rather than assuming the existing design remains correct.
