A lamp-base slot needs enough clearance for assembly while holding the acrylic panel in the intended position. The correct value is project-specific: it depends on the finished panel, slot construction, holding method and allowed movement.

Use three separate measurements

MeasurementMeaningBuyer input
Finished panel thicknessThe actual lower edge that enters the baseNominal value plus finish, coating or attached layers
Slot openingThe receiving width at the base surfaceTarget fit and acceptable visible gap
Insertion depthHow far the panel enters the housingRequired support and artwork clearance

Show the tolerance and measurement location

A single dimension without tolerance can be misleading. Mark where the panel thickness is measured and whether the edge is polished, tapered, stepped or printed. For the slot, identify the opening and the internal contact area separately if the structure is not uniform.

Decide how the panel is retained

Some platforms rely on a close slot fit; others may use a removable insert, gasket, fastener or different holding feature. State whether the customer needs tool-free replacement, a fixed display or repeated panel changes. That requirement influences both fit and wear.

Do not ignore internal clearance

The panel must avoid the LEDs, PCB, wiring and control parts inside the base. Increasing insertion depth or changing the lower profile can require a new internal layout even when the outside housing remains similar.

Validate with production-representative parts

A prototype cut from a different material or process may not represent final thickness and edge quality. The approval sample should use the intended acrylic, lower-edge preparation and base construction. Record the approved measurements so replacement panels and later production batches use the same reference.

Dimensioned drawing checklist

  • Panel front, side and lower-edge views
  • Finished thickness with tolerance
  • Slot opening, internal width and insertion depth
  • Artwork keep-out line above the base
  • Overall panel dimensions, weight and orientation
  • Retention method and replacement requirement

Use this drawing with the published LED lamp base collection. If the current slot cannot accept the panel, identify the change as an engineering requirement in the inquiry.
