A useful lava lamp request does not need to be a finished specification. It does need to separate the current product you like from the changes you want. That gives the product team enough information to confirm whether the project is a standard order, ODM / Private Label adaptation, OEM / Build-to-Print request or Full ODM development.
Start with one clear product reference
Link to a current model, attach a reference photo or identify the closest body shape. A reference establishes the starting silhouette, chamber direction and base style. It does not mean every visible detail is automatically available on every model. If several references are supplied, mark which feature should be taken from each one.
Describe the appearance in separate layers
Do not use one color name for the whole lamp. List the external base and cap finish, the chamber liquid direction, the moving-element color, the lighting direction and any printed decoration separately. A short annotated image is often more useful than a paragraph of color adjectives.
| RFQ section | What to send | What it helps confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Starting product | Product URL, model code or reference image | Current platform or new-development route |
| Visual direction | Shape, finish, liquid, moving effect and light references | Appearance review and sample scope |
| Electrical brief | Destination, voltage, frequency, plug and control preference | Exact configuration to review |
| Commercial brief | Quantity, launch date, delivery country and sales channel | Quotation, timing and packing route |
| Branding | Logo file, label language and packaging direction | Private-label artwork scope |
Give the destination market before asking for a price
The same exterior can require a different power configuration, plug, marking, instructions or document review for another destination. State where the finished product will be sold and whether the quotation should include a cord, plug, adapter or other accessory. Requirements must be confirmed for the final ordered configuration rather than assumed from a reference sample.
Separate required changes from preferences
Mark each request as required, preferred or optional. A logo and approved package may fit a private-label route, while a new chamber, base geometry, electronics layout or unsupported function can require engineering and tooling review. This separation prevents an optional idea from delaying the first comparable quotation.
Copy this into the first inquiry
- Closest BOWEI model or attached reference
- Required body size or preferred size range
- Base, cap, liquid, moving-element and light colors
- Control method and any remote requirement
- Destination country, voltage, frequency and plug
- Logo position, package type and instruction language
- Estimated quantity, required date and delivery destination
- Required changes versus optional ideas
Use the first sample to close open decisions
The sample should represent the agreed product, appearance, power and basic package direction. Record the approved sample and artwork version. If a later request changes the chamber, power or structure, review it as a controlled change instead of treating it as the same approved product.
