A lava lamp color brief usually contains several colors, not one. The exterior, chamber, moving effect and light interact, so the buyer should define each layer and then approve the complete illuminated sample.

Break the color brief into four parts

First define the base and cap finish. Then identify the chamber liquid appearance, the moving-element or wax direction and the lighting color or program. Add printed graphics only after those layers are clear. A request such as “blue lava lamp” can otherwise describe several very different finished products.

Judge the combination under real use conditions

Screen colors and unlit material samples cannot show the final interaction. Review the lamp switched off, during start-up and during normal visual operation in a representative room. Dark finishes may create strong contrast; highly saturated light can change the apparent liquid or moving-element color.

Use a controlled reference system

Attach color references to a named part, and keep the file version with the sample record. A digital color value can guide artwork, but material, coating, translucency and illumination affect the physical result. The production standard should be the approved physical sample and documented finish direction.

Coordinate packaging and listing images

The retail box and online image should depict the ordered combination, not a different colorway from the same family. Decide whether the package must show the lamp lit, unlit or both. If several variants share one package structure, make variant identification clear on the label and carton.

Color approval checklist

  • Base and cap material, finish and color
  • Liquid or chamber appearance when unlit
  • Moving-element color and contrast
  • Exact light colors, sequence and default mode
  • Logo and printed artwork colors
  • Approved reference image and physical sample version
  • Package image and variant identification

Use the Metallic Red Lava Lamp, Aluminum Base Lava Lamp and Black Base RGB Lava Lamp as three different finish references. Available combinations remain model- and project-specific.
